The Fruit of their Lips
Pastora Arra Joyce Alejandro
Everyone who calls on the Name of the Lord will be saved. How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" - Romans 10:13-15

My experience in mindoro is just so amazing. I didn’t even know that He would work in my life a lot. He taught me to be patient, to love others for whoever they are and to share to them the greatest gift I had "the salvation which comes only to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." He just blesses us abundantly and Praise God.

The Lord had blessed me more than I could imagine! My heart was captured by the Mangyan people, the sympathy to share the gospel and educate them. I enjoy playing with them and listening to the stories of the Mangyan children. Their love for God especially in worshipping Him was amazing. They don’t have musical instruments but their songs were enough to show the goodness and greatness of what God we all have! After the mission exposure in Mindoro, I found myself being more thankful for the blessings I am receiving from God. More than that, my personal relationship with God had strengthened because of the memories they shared with me. In addition, the calling I have from God was also revived due to these experiences and the encouragement I gained from the tribe and from my fellow Christians. And so, I praise God for all of these!

It's such a great blessing being part of Project Acts Mission Challenge, and being one of the interns of Mission 101 training. I had a great experience during our mission exposure. Seeing people (tribes) coming to us to listen to the word of God, hearing people of the tribe saying "JESUS" and "AMEN", and hearing the kids singing "CHRISTIAN SONGS" really gave me unexplainable JOY AND PEACE to me. Just like what CJ said, We thought that it would be them (Tribal people) who would be blessed, but hearing them accepting JESUS in their heart really bless us more. GLORY TO GOD for Everything! God bless us...

I had a great experience in Mindoro.. God showed me some things that I will never forget, and He taught me a lot of things, like loving the unlovable people there.. He also answered my prayers and gave me so many blessings that I didn’t expect. To God be the Glory.. Thanks also to this group.. God will really bless you guys.. ^^ God bless!..

I am grateful to GOD because I’ve been (given a) part of the said Mindoro mission that was just held recently even though I’m not a member of your group (Project Acts Mission Challenge). You've given me a chance to minister to the Mangyan tribes. Thanks be to GOD for the wonderful experience. I do pray that GOD almighty will bless your group more and more. GOD bless the group Project Acts.

Being able to go to Mindoro was a definite gift from God. Seeing the Mangyan people was another reminder of how blessed I am, not because I have money, friends, or things, but because I have Christ within me. With Christ in me I am rich. But as I began to discover throughout the trip, the gift of Christ needs to be nurtured and fed. I always need to be watering my faith by seeking God and spending time with Him.

Since coming to the Philippines and now Mindoro, I have felt the Lord asking me, "What have you to give people"? What do you have to offer the Manyan people? During the mission, I and my sisters had the opportunity to play some music. The truth is that I didn't want to do this. The guitar was out of tune, I didn't have a piano to play, and the song was in English which meant most people wouldn't understand it. I thought to myself, "Can this really be used by God". We did the song and the presence of God was very much alive. Through this, I realized that all I have to offer people is Jesus. The music without Christ is useless. This has greatly encouraged me to spend time more time seeking and praying so that Jesus is alive in me. When the spirit of God is dwelling inside of us, the little acts of kindness, the music played and the words spoken are powerful because it comes from God. Working with the Mangyan people was so inspiring. Having grown up in Canada with everything I needed, seeing these various tribes with very little and yet full of the joy of the Lord was amazing. Jesus is our everything. Money, possessions, and friends do not meet our deepest needs. Jesus meets every need in our lives and because of this, I am so very grateful. I desire that wherever I go, Jesus is alive in me, so that I can change the world around me. I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to go to Mindoro and visit these various tribes. It is a mission that I will never forget.

It was a blessing from the Lord to have had the opportunity to visit and minister to the Mangyan people in Mindoro. Throughout our visits to the various tribes, I felt as if these people were blessing me more than I was blessing them. It was as if I was being ministered through them. Being able to witness their lifestyles which are so incredibly opposite from mine, caused me to realize how blessed I really am. Yet even though they have so little, they are filled with joy and contentment which only comes from the Lord. I realized that without Christ in our lives, we have nothing. One of the things I believe the Lord is trying to teach me is to get out of my comfort zone and obey whatever He asks of me. I'm learning that when I obey His commands He will bless me. If we want to see His power in our lives we must be willing to step out of our comfort zones and be ready to take risks! When we obey, He will bless us.
INSPIRING AND MAKING THE NEXT GENERATION TO ACTIVELY RESPOND TO MISSIONS
The first decade of the New Millennium is almost over, yet the people that need to be discipled (and not just evangelized) remains vast. Even in our country there are many tribes, towns and baranggays in the islands and the remote areas that are as if appealing to us like how a man appeared to Paul in a dream. (Acts16:9). The Leaders of Project Acts – Mission Challenge is responding to this. Will you also take part of the challenge?
The Year That Was
In December 2009, a group of church leaders and workers have gathered in Maragondon, Cavite. The place that was chosen was a typical provincial town, not so much affected by air pollution and yes, there were many trees all around. Local mission is almost always held in remote areas like this place.
As always the purpose of the meeting is to spend time bonding with one another since all of us were serving the Lord in different places. Although a number of our former co-laborers are not that available anymore, still the Lord has enabled us to continue on with what He has started in us. We cherish those meetings because it is in those where we find our visions are conceived.
Some of the agendas taken were: (a) finding the more appropriate name for our group (it’s time to move on and have a more definitive group name); (b) find out the group’s core values, vision and mission, and; (c) plot next year’s (2010’s) calendar of activities even though everyone knows that we have nothing but the Lord’s presence, His undying love for souls and ourselves. We knew in our hearts this is His will and we intend to continue on with our mission.
The Boot Camp, the M101 & The Mission Exposures
The Trainings at Alabang, Muntinlupa
One of the first things that were agreed upon was that the group should now have a more defined target. We realized that were not contented anymore to just hold another youth “Boot Camp” for the coming summer vacation, and so follow-up programs and activities for some selected active young people were included in the 2010 calendar.
The months that passed were like swift eagles flying over the horizon, and so the first major event had transpired, the youth “Boot Camp 2010”. So many things had happened that summer at the Jamoboree Site, Mount Makiling, Los Baños, Laguna.
Almost immediately after, a handful of selected boot camp delegates were selected and invited to join the “Mission 101” (or for merly known as MLI). Most of them have responded to the invitation and so a series of sessions were held. We find in need of operational funds and materials needed for the projects to be accomplished.
Our office month after month (if I can call it that way) is the food court of Festival Mall at Ayala Alabang, Muntinlupa City. It is there where most of our plans were made and our hearts were conditioned for facing the challenges this year. By late August the first “Mission Exposure” was held at a remote town in Antipolo, Rizal. The place was called “Calawis”. For some of us Calais, Antipolo is already a familiar place but the excitement to reach that place remains high.
Finally, the October sem-break has come. My, how fast the months have come and go. The date for the 2nd Mission Exposure to Occidental Mindoro is at the doorstep, but as usual, each one of us is still waiting for our (whether us leaders or the trainees) personal funds for the mission will come. As always, when a work that needs to Lord the funds also come just in time. In that mission, we are about 12 (like the apostle huh!..), nine Filipinos, and three Canadian sisters. Someone among us said: “It looked more like a vacation than a mission…”. Couldn’t agree more, for the shalom of God (wholeness, lacking in nothing) is very obvious throughout the mission days.
There’s something about mission that you can’t just see in the usual church services, and that is the glow in the faces of the people you’re reaching. I’m far from realizing the depth of the word of the Lord to the Prophet Isaiah, which says: “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, Your God reigns.” Each person’s face tells a different story and nobody has the time in their lifetime to know their stories. Could this be one of the reasons why there’s a book of life and that one day, like the other books mentioned in revelation, it will be opened?
